I was born in 1965 in Ankara. I graduated from TED Ankara College in 1983 and from Ankara University School of Medicine in 1991. I completed my specialty training in 2004. Between 2003-2004 and 2007-2008, I was Spetzler’s Neuroresearch Fellow at the Barrow Neurological Institute in the USA. In 2007, I was selected as the second place winner of the Best Spinal Surgery Research Award organized by the Turkish Neurosurgical Society. I was promoted to the title of assistant professor in 2007 and associate professor in 2011. I have 24 articles published in international journals and 15 articles in national journals. I have also been the editor of a book and the chapter author of 15 books in various fields. I am a member of Turkish Neurosurgical Society, Turkish Spine Society, EANS (European Association of Neurosurgical Societies), and NASS (North American Spine Society). I am married and have one daughter.
